Punta Bianca, Sicily: where it is and what to know before you go

Place 20 km from the Scala as the crow flies

Punta Bianca is a headland on the coast south-east of Agrigento, in Sicily, about 20 km from Scala dei Turchi as the crow flies, on the other side of the city. Many people search for it online, including from abroad, but it barely appears in the documents we have consulted: this page says what we know and what we don't, without making up the rest.

Where is Punta Bianca?

OpenStreetMap places the headland of Punta Bianca about 15 km south-east of the centre of Agrigento and about 10 km south-east of San Leone, the city's seaside district, both as the crow flies. From Scala dei Turchi it is about 20 km to the east as the crow flies; from the Valley of the Temples about 12. The map below shows where it lies compared with the Scala.

What do we know?

Very little. In a review from around September 2026, a visitor lists Punta Bianca, along with Capo Bianco and Torre Salsa, among the white cliffs in the area that you can see without a ticket. It is our only source on the landscape.

None of the Agrigento bathing waters listed by the Portale Acque, the Italian Ministry of Health's bathing water portal, is called Punta Bianca. In the municipality of Agrigento all the bathing waters are rated excellent in 2026, except one, rated good, to the right of the mouth of the Naro river; we have not checked which one matches this stretch of coast, nor which municipality the headland belongs to.

What don't we know?

  • how to get there, by car and on foot, and whether there is a path;
  • where to park;
  • whether there is a beach and what it is like;
  • whether the area is protected and which rules apply, including for dogs;
  • whether there are any facilities.

Where there are rock faces, common sense applies: don't stop at their base, keep away from the edge and don't take any rock away. If you see a sea turtle or a fenced-off nest, follow the advice in our guide to nature and turtles.

Punta Bianca or Scala dei Turchi?

They are two different places, on either side of Agrigento. For Scala dei Turchi we know how the visit works, what it costs and where to park: it is all in our complete guide to Scala dei Turchi. For Punta Bianca we don't. If you are looking for a white cliff like the Scala with a little more information, there is Capo Bianco, next to the beach at Eraclea Minoa.
