Where to stay and eat near Scala dei Turchi

To stay near Scala dei Turchi you have three areas: Realmonte, the nearest town by road (about 3 km), Porto Empedocle (about 5 km to the Tower of Charles V), and Agrigento with its seaside district of San Leone (about 14-15 km). For food, there are a pizzeria, bars and lidos (Italian beach clubs) right at the beach access points. Our sources say little about hotels and restaurants, so this page is short, with no rankings and no prices, and reports only what we found.

Where is it best to stay?

It mostly depends on how you get around. Distances are by road, calculated from OpenStreetMap data.

Area From the Scala Without a car
Realmonte 3 km Lumia buses to Agrigento, not to the Scala
Porto Empedocle, Tower of Charles V 5.2 km Tourist bus, Tower of Charles V stop
Agrigento, centre 14.9 km (9 miles) Tourist bus, line B
San Leone 14.3 km (9 miles) Tourist bus, line A; change to line B to be confirmed

Realmonte. The nearest town by road, with Lido Rossello and Punta Grande on the same stretch of coast: by car you are at the cliff in a few minutes. Without a car it is less convenient, because Lumia buses link the town with Agrigento, not with the Scala. According to a single source, in summer 2026 the municipality ran a summer town bus with a stop at Scala dei Turchi, but you need to ask the town hall for prices and dates. Bus times and stops are in our guide from Agrigento to Scala dei Turchi.

Porto Empedocle. The tourist bus stops at the Tower of Charles V before reaching the Scala; the town has Camilleri's places, and ferries leave from here for Lampedusa and Linosa. We have no data on places to stay.

Agrigento and San Leone. Agrigento has the railway station and the Valley of the Temples, and line B of the Temple Tour Bus leaves from there for the Scala; but the bus only runs in the warmer months and never on Mondays, and without it you need your own transport. San Leone is Agrigento's seaside district: boat trips to the Scala leave from here, and line A goes to the Temple of Juno, where line B also stops; ask the operator whether you can change on the same ticket.

Further west. Siculiana Marina, about 11 km by road, is the seaside village of Siculiana, close to the Torre Salsa reserve.

Which places to stay appear in the sources?

Only a few, and none checked by us. We mention them because they appear in the sources we consulted, not as recommendations:

  • the Resort Scala dei Turchi, in Realmonte, which according to a tourist website is about 300 metres from the cliff and has a shuttle for guests;
  • the Hotel La Perla Scala dei Turchi, which appears on a hotel comparison site;
  • the Camping Valle dei Templi, between San Leone and Villaggio Mosè, which is also a stop on line A of the tourist bus.

Searches for "where to stay" mostly return booking and holiday-rental platforms. According to a 2026 article in AgrigentoNotizie, unregistered short lets are widespread along the province's coast: book through channels that give you written confirmation and a receipt.

By campervan. There are private parking areas near the cliff, some with a shuttle to the beach. Prices and facilities, with the dates they were reported, are on our page on parking.

Where to eat near Scala dei Turchi?

At the beach access points. The municipality of Realmonte lists four points from which you walk down to the sea: the Pizzeria "Scala dei Turchi", the "Acanthus" beach club, the White bar-Lounge beach and the Majata beach club. The most used route goes down the path by the "Lido Scala dei Turchi" restaurant. The municipality gives no opening hours and does not say whether they open all year.

What visitors say. According to 2025 and 2026 reviews, there is a snack bar with hot food along the steps and kiosks on the beach. One visitor in around July 2026 praises the food at a restaurant at the foot of the steps; another, in around September 2026, finds the prices excessive. A review from around June 2026 suggests watching the sunset with a drink from a nearby bar.

Out of season. A review from a couple of years ago warns that bars and restaurants were closed in winter. On Google Maps the "Chiosco Belvedere" and "Sunset White Wall" are listed as temporarily closed. Out of season, bring water and something to eat.

On the reserve beaches. At Torre Salsa, according to a 2021 source, there are no bars or beach clubs: bring your own water and food. For the other nearby beaches, see our guide to the beaches.

We have no verified sources on restaurants in the towns themselves, in Realmonte, Porto Empedocle or Agrigento, which is why we don't name any.
